SPÖ boss Hergovich: Optimistic for the election campaign in January 2025!

Niederösterreich, Österreich - In the Christmas interview with Today, the SPÖ HERGOVICH expressed himself optimistically about the upcoming municipal elections in January. He believes that his party can take second place from the FPÖ. According to Hergovich, the SPÖ has grown steadily in the surveys since its take office and has had the greatest increase in votes in 80 years. The SPÖ currently has 107 social democratic mayors, and he is striving for more. Hergovich criticized the black and blue government, which in his view has not adequately improved health care, and sees great defects, especially during waiting times for doctor's appointments.

The financial situation is particularly explosive: "The funding has been shortened so much that only 25,000 euros gross is paid more per person," emphasizes Hergovich and calls for politics for the benefit of the population. This happens against the background that the FPÖ in the last elections, such as , emerged as the strongest party in June and in the National Council election in September. In these elections, the FPÖ received 29.2 percent of the vote and doubled its share in many federal states, while the ÖVP had to accept a dramatic decline in eleven percentage points.

elections and political landscape

The success of the FPÖ in the previous elections has significantly changed the political landscape in Austria. In Styria and Vorarlberg, the right votes increased, while the ÖVP and the Greens lost their consent. This has strongly influenced the trust of the population in the different parties and is mainly supported by men and younger voters. Hergovich's statements about the SPÖ come at the right time because the political competition is greater than ever.
