New board of directors in the youth parliament: young people take on responsibility!

in Anklam, the Hanseatic city in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, the youth parliament chose a new board. On a solemn election evening in the Evangelical Community Center, the young people were able to vote for the next representatives. 16-year-old Elisabeth Schmidt was appointed the new chairman after she was elected with nine votes. The deputy chairman are 14-year-old Michelle Anita Kossorz and 15-year-old Julian Becker, both of whom are fully motivated in their new positions. The election took place in several polling stations as part of a multi-day vote, where a total of 315 valid votes were made, such as the Nordkurier reported.

On December 18, the parliament will come together for its first session to set the future goals. The foundation of the youth parliament shows how important it is that young people can bring their interests and concerns into the decisions of the city. The choice and activities of the parliament will continue to be funded by the city administration, also with the support of the Federal Ministry for Families, Seniors, Women and Youth as part of the “Democracy!” Program. The adhern youth now have the opportunity to effectively bring their voice into local politics.
