New Premier Bayrou: France's way out of the political crisis!
New Prime Minister François Bayrou faces huge challenges!
France's new political era is heralded by a veteran! François Bayrou, a well -known name in French politics, has taken over the reins as Prime Minister and is more than conscious of the enormous difficulties in front of him. At a ceremonial handover with the former Prime Minister Michel Barnier on Friday, he left no doubt that the country's financial and political problems accept huge proportions - he compared the budget deficit with the snow -covered peaks of the Himalayas!
"Nobody knows the difficulties of the situation better than me," said Bayrou, emphasizing the pressing challenges that the country has to master. The budget deficit is currently in alarming 6.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). A mountain of problems that cannot be ignored!
A new course in stormy waters
The political landscape of France is shaken after the last elections. President Emmanuel Macron called Bayrou as the new prime minister after Barnier had to resign due to a historical vote of no confidence that was initiated by the extreme right and the left. Bayrou, the 73-year-old leader of the democratic movement (modem), has established himself as a key player in Macron's centrist Renaissance party and is now seen as a savior in need.
Political turbulence began when Macron set elections prematurely after his party had badly cut off in the European elections. Marine Le Pen and her right -wing extremist National Rally (RN) emerged as a clear winner. But the elections produced a fragmented parliament in which none of the factions has an absolute majority. A chaos that Bayrou now has to arrange!
The challenge of government formation
Bayrou is faced with the urgent task of putting together a cabinet that can withstand another vote of no confidence. He plans talks with political leaders from various parties to choose new ministers. Some conservatives could also become part of the new government. With this strategy, Macron pursues the goal of depriving Le Pen and its RN the power that she demonstrated in the deposition of Barnier.
"Our red lines remain," warned Jordan Bardella, the President of the RN, and emphasized that the party will insist that the new budget law secures the purchasing power of the French. In the midst of this political unrest, the question remains whether Macron can complete his term by 2027. The President promised to stay in May 2027 until the end of his five -year term.
Public opinion shows that the French long for stability. A survey by Elabe showed that over two thirds of the respondents want the politicians to reach an agreement instead of overthrowing a new government. In this critical phase, Le Pen is also put to the test: An upcoming process for embezzlement could endanger their political ambitions for 2027
