Fight for democracy: President Yoon is under violent pressure!
Seoul, Südkorea - President Yoon Suk Yeol in South Korea remains in office despite a failed application for office. This was possible after almost all MPs from the ruling People Power Party (PPP) left the Parliament's plenary hall in Seoul. This did not reach the number of votes required for the survey, which requires at least 200 out of 300 MPs. Only two MPs of the PPP initially remained, while the opposition was violating the government party and accusing them of being "accomplices of a overthrow", like the reported.
In front of the parliament, around 150,000 people gathered who demanded that Yoon resign. In this mass mobilization, which was quantified by the Yonhap news agency with up to one million demonstrators, many broke out into tears when they learned from the plenary hall. The excitement was also triggered by Yoon's sudden and controversial decision to proclaim war law in order to cope with an escalated budget dispute. This measure brought the country into political turbulence and has been considered an extremely rare opportunity since democratization in the 1980s, such as In a television address, Yoon apologized to the population for the imposition of war law and promised to no longer consider similar measures. Nevertheless, the political situation remains tense because Yoon is under strong pressure. The chairman of the opposition Democratic Party said that they will "try again and again" to enforce the survey, which only increases the uncertainty about the future of its presidency.
