Future of the heating exchange: government is supposed to reorganize environmentally friendly support!

The future of the Austrian heating exchange program "Out of oil and gas" is in danger! According to APA-OTS , the funding pot was fully exploited a year before the planned program. This means that private individuals who have registered by December 2024 are under pressure: You have to replace your old fossil heating within 12 months, otherwise the right to the reserved budget will expire. This is also shown in a current survey in which 85 percent of Austrians advocate state funding for the heating exchange.

Registration for the funding measure has recently not been possible. Now it is up to the new federal government to decide on the continuation of the campaign. So far, up to 75 percent of the cost of switching to climate -friendly heat pump heating has been reimbursed. Thomas Mader, Managing Director of Stiebel Eltron Austria, emphasizes that the high interest in funding underlines the positive response of the program.

deadlines and future of the program

However, it remains to be seen whether and how the funding program will be reissued in the future. Mader appeals to the future government to continue the program of success. While some federal states continue to support households financially, the funding for low -income households at federal level continues unchanged. The next challenge is to comply with the time requirements in order to be able to use the funding, which forces many households to act quickly to comply with the installation periods.

In the survey on the “Energy Trend Monitor 2025”, 73 percent of those surveyed expressed that they are willing to invest in environmentally friendly technologies, which underlines the urgency of the topic.
