Time for change: Day of parliamentary research brings new impulses!
Time for change: Day of parliamentary research brings new impulses!
For the third time, the legal, legislative and scientific service (RLW) of the Austrian Parliament opens its doors to researchers: inside of all disciplines. On June 11, 2025, the Day of parliamentary research will be presented on the scientific contributions on current topics. Previous events focused on parliamentary research and the performance of parliaments, while the focus is on the topic of "time" next year. Interested parties are invited to submit abstracts by March 31, 2025, who deal with the challenges of different time perspectives in political decision -making processes.
The discussion is heated by political debates on climate change, pandemics and artificial intelligence that show how different time horizons influence decision -making processes. This approach is intended to shed light on challenges that occur in the implementation and communication of decisions, especially with regard to democracy and institutional processes. Key questions that will appeal to experts include the effects of voting cycles or time pressure on decision -making in parliaments.
An extensive program awaits the participants
Against the background of these important topics, this year's Day of parliamentary research will also take place on June 11th. London the start with the question "What are parliament for and how do they perform?" will initiate. This is the start of a program that brings together international scientists: inside to discuss aspects of parliamentary practice. In Panels and a poster session there will be topics such as strengthening democratic resilience and understanding power conditions in plenary debates. Another highlight is the presentation of a new research project as part of the "Research Year in Parliament".
