In Austria there are already numerous initiatives for the reduction of gender -specific barriers in professions that are traditionally dominated by men. This includes informative events such as the Girls' Day, which takes place on the fourth Thursday in April. Here girls and young women are enabled to get to know technical professions and to find out about training opportunities.

In addition to these initiatives, young women can take advantage of advisory services to find female role models and to find out about opportunities in areas such as mint, craft and green jobs. Various organizations offer special programs to promote the interest of a wider target group in technical professions and thus pave the way for a fairer professional landscape.

There are still challenges, but the positive examples motivate and inspire numerous women who want to make a career in these areas.
