The Film Festival at Wiener Rathausplatz celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2025 and will start a new era on June 28th. According to OE24 , the festival will come up with a revised program and a fresh appearance.

In order to offer visitors an appealing experience, five large, round skyliners were installed, which offer protection against sun and rain and also create a new feeling of openness. The traditional grandstand is eliminated, which creates space for innovative room concepts. New residence zones in the cinema area combine gastronomy with the film experience and create an urban oasis on Rathausplatz.

The festival program follows a clear weekly schedule: Classic pieces are on the program on Mondays, while on Tuesday and Wednesday there are various music genres such as musical, jazz and rock. Large pop stars and opera productions can be experienced on weekends. A special highlight is the opera program on Sunday in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera.

The offer is so diverse that it ranges from the performance of Verdis * Macbeth * to a pop fireworks with Katy Perry. Large opera stars such as Anna Netrebko and Nina Stemme will also be on stage, while young artists like Billie Eilish and Harry Styles should address the younger generation.
