Viennese lines start summer timetable: Bath traffic from today!
Wien, Österreich - On May 17, 2025, the Viennese lines start their annual spa traffic to improve access to the popular outdoor pools and bathing spots in the city. The summer schedule comes into force to make it easier to visit the Vienna Danube Island, the most frequented seaside resorts in Vienna. Already in April 2025 the timetable of bus line 20a was partially adjusted to cover early needs.
From May 17th, the new amplifier line 20b will be introduced, which runs along the Arbeiterstrandbadstraße and supplemented the regular traffic every 20 minutes on hot days. Bus line 42a also improves access to the Schafbergbad by driving every 15 minutes during the week, even every 10 minutes on weekends, which is a significant increase in the clock frequency.
Expansion of the Wienmobil Rad-System
In addition to the improved connection to the outdoor pools, Wienmobil Rad has expanded its offer. This rental system is now available in all 23 districts and offers over 3,000 bicycles at more than 250 stations. 75,000 registrations have been recorded since the launch seven months ago. Particularly popular loan stations are located at the opera, at the main train station and in the Volksgarten.
The high use of the system is shown in over 200,000 loans, with a maximum of 40,000 loans in August. The average duration is about 30 minutes, which means that the offer not only represents a practical alternative to search for a parking space, but is also environmentally friendly. Users with a special ticket, such as an annual ticket or a climate, only pay 30 cents per 30 minutes.
public transport network in Vienna
Vienna benefits from a well-developed public transport network that includes buses, trains, trams and subways. The Viennese lines run a total of five subway lines, 29 tram lines and 127 bus lines, including 24 night lines. These run between 0:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., while the subway stays in operation around the clock on weekends.
The Viennese lines' vehicle fleet comprises over 500 trams and more than 450 buses, so that a variety of ticket options are existence. This ranges from individual tickets for EUR 2.40 to various daily and monthly tickets. The validity of the tickets extends across the entire transport network of the city and adjacent regions, which can flexibly switch passengers between the different means of transport.
All in all, the innovations and offers of the Viennese lines and Wienmobil bike show that the city continuously works to improve their transport infrastructure and to enable the citizens and visitors to have comfortable and environmentally friendly mobility.
