Viennese lines celebrate Pride Month with colorful actions and love!

As part of the Pride Month, the Viennese lines show strong support for the Queere Community this year. On the occasion of these celebrations, which last from May 31 to June 15, numerous campaigns and events are carried out, including the traditional rainbow parade. This parade, which will take place on June 14th on Wiener Ringstrasse, has developed into an important event for LGBTIQ+personnel as well as her friends and supporters. The motto of the rainbow parade is "We ride with pride" and represents the commitment to acceptance and equality.

The Viennese lines will lead the parade, which is already celebrating its 23rd edition this year, with special Pride vehicles. In addition, trams and Wienmobil bikes in rainbow colors are on the road during the entire month. Special “Love Bikes” are provided for the day of the rainbow parade. These 200 bicycles in rainbow progressive colors can be loaned at ten stations in the city center on June 14th and offer 100 free minutes with the code "Pride25".

diverse activities and visibility

The Pride Month in Vienna offers more than just the parade. From June 11th to 14th the Pride Village will take place on Rathausplatz, where information stands, stage programs, food trucks and concerts are offered. The University of Vienna is also actively represented with Queer @ universities and participation in the parade with a truck and a foot group is firmly planned. The celebrations begin on June 14th with a warm-up in the Pride Village before the parade starts at 12 p.m. at the level of the Rathausplatz and moves around the ring and kai against the direction of travel.

The Viennese lines also have a campaign entitled "Your visibility counts!" Initiated, the queer people and their supporters give space to express themselves. These messages are visible on social media and digital screens in subway stations. Managing Director Alexandra Reinagl emphasizes the importance of diversity and a respectful approach to the company, which is also reflected in the range of merchandising articles in pride design.

A look at the queer history and culture of Vienna

The rainbow parade and the many events of the Pride Month are part of a long queer tradition in Vienna, which started in the 19th century. The turquoise Rosa Lila Villa, founded in 1982, acts as a symbol for the queer resistance and the commitment in the city. Vienna has established itself as a lively queer capital that offers culture, history and a safe space for the LGBTIQ+community all year round, with numerous drag shows and other cultural events.

In addition, there are special offers in shops, hotels and museums for those who want to discover the queer scene of Vienna during the Pride Months. Queere hotspots such as the Villa Vida Café, Why Not Club and the Felixx Bar are among the most popular points of contact. The events range from sports to film screenings to readings and workshops, everything in the endeavor to celebrate diversity and create visibility.

Overall, Vienna shows that the Pride Month is more than just a festival - it is an important platform for equality, respect and celebrating queer identity. Preparations are in full swing and the anticipation for the celebrations is already noticeable. Everyone involved is invited to participate and raise their voices.
