Viennese fire brigade upgrades: Six new fire trucks for flood cases!

Tauschekgasse 15/Petritschgasse 3, 1210 Wien, Österreich - The need for fresh forces in disaster protection is becoming increasingly obvious in Vienna. On March 3, 2025, Fire Brigade Councilor Peter Hanke together with fire director Mario Rauch will present six new high -distance fire engines, of Tatra Force 4 × 4. These vehicles are specially developed in order to be able to help quickly even in extreme weather conditions, damaged road conditions and high water levels. The presentation date takes place on the practice area of the Vienna professional fire brigade, where project managers and representatives of the vehicle manufacturers will also be present to give information and insights, such as press.wien.gv.at reported.

modernization of the fleet

In addition to the presentation of the new fire engines, the renewal of the entire fleet of the Vienna professional fire brigade will also be promoted. An amount of around 4.4 million euros was approved in the Finance Committee for the years 2024 and 2025 in order to purchase two alternating vehicles and five heavy armory vehicles. This modernization replaces old models that no longer meet the current environmental standards. The new vehicles are equipped with powerful Euro 6 diesel engines and offer excellent maneuverability, while they will have a payload of at least 12,300 kg, such as Feuerwehren.at emphasized.

The new heavy armory vehicles should fundamentally change the previous concept of technical aid services. They enable a more effective distribution of special tools within the Vienna urban areas, so that in the event of an emergency, the required tools are available faster. This strategic change promises a faster response time in operations, which is of the greatest importance for the security of the Viennese population.
