Future -oriented school: Simmering invests 38 million in education

In Simmering, significant investments are in education. The district has decided to put a total of 38 million euros in the renovation of the Molitorgasse elementary school and the new middle school at the Enkplatz. Such extensive work is not only necessary, but also a clear commitment to promote the next generation.

District head Thomas Steinhart (SPÖ) emphasizes that these measures represent a step towards equal opportunities. "We are investing in the future of our youngest residents," he explains. The renovation measures in the Molitorgasse should be completed by the school year 2025/2026, while the second construction phase at the Enkplatz should come to an end in the summer of 2026.

The renovation of the elementary school will not only design the school building barrier -free, but also include a new dining room. During the renovation work, the 320 students and 30 teachers are housed in the Rappachgasse educational institution. In addition, an environmental initiative was launched at the end of the last school year, in which around 250 pupils donated to waste separation and used pieces of furniture to non -profit organizations.

The renovation of the Molitorgasse is expected to cost 14 million euros, of which the city of Vienna takes over over 80 percent. During the reopening 2025, the school will offer new exercise rooms and a total of 13 classrooms.

At the same time, the new middle school at the Enkplatz is also being rebuilt, for example by installing a photovoltaic system, to increase energy efficiency. The overall project is expected to cost 28 million euros, with the district financing about 60 percent of it. Climate systems were already installed at the school in 2019 and new classrooms were created.

The 420 students of the new middle school as well as the 55 teachers are also taught in the main building in the course of the renovations. After the renovation work, the new middle school is planning to introduce full -day support from 2026, while the elementary school on the Molitorgasse will introduce an offer for day care school.

These comprehensive measures at both locations are not only financial expenses, but also essential investments in the quality of school training in Simmering. The renovations are necessary to ensure that schools meet the needs of the students and offer them a more modern learning environment.
