Young voices asked: Register now for the Vienna youth parliament!

Vienna continues to look for fresh wind for his youth parliament. Young people between the ages of 14 and 20 have the opportunity to actively participate in the political participation of their city. The youth parliament has gained attractiveness in recent years, and last year 300 young parliamentarians have been actively involved.

The youth parliament offers a platform for the votes of the youth. Voices that address important topics such as climate protection, participation and urban planning. Four plenary sessions are planned that will take place between December 2024 and April 2025. Here the participants can directly deliver their opinions and ideas to city politics and to get to know politicians. Registration for the upcoming round is still possible until November 30th.

The topics for discussions in the youth parliament are based on a recently carried out survey on the Vienna Child and Youth Strategy, which is presenting the direction for the next five years. In these meetings, the young people bring their ideas and wishes and actively deal with the events in their city. They are accompanied by experienced trainers who support them in the topics.

Education City Councilor Christoph Return (Neos) emphasizes the importance of this initiative: "This is how the children and young people state the tone what is relevant to the city and what they urgently want." With the strategy for 2025 to 2030, the young people are appointed the main designers of their living environments, which underlines the importance of their voice in urban politics.

The youth parliament is coordinated in close cooperation with "Wienxtra" and other urban institutions. Vucko Schüchner, managing director of "Wienxtra", encourages the young people to participate: "With the youth parliament, we give young people the opportunity to experience democratic processes up close." Your opinions and needs are of enormous value for the city and should flow into the political decision -making process.

All young people from the Viennese districts who are between 14 and 20 years old are invited to register until November 30th at Junges.wien.gv.at . The plenary sessions of the youth parliament take place on the following dates:

• 18. December 2024, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• 30. January 2025, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• 26. February 2025, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• 10. April 2025, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Vienna City Hall
