Bricolage City: New quality of life and park landscape for Simmering
Bricolage City: New quality of life and park landscape for Simmering
In Simmering, an exciting urban planning project under the name Bricolage City is planned, which is to be implemented in several construction phases from 2026. The vision provides to create a new urban district around the Gasometer, which will offer space for around 2,000 people. With modern living space and job opportunities, a spacious park of 51,000 m² is also integrated, which is supposed to represent a new green oasis for the residents.
The project aims to sustainably improve the quality of life in Simmering. A challenge is the clean and effective implementation that requires close cooperation between everyone involved. Details are currently being worked out in planning work. This step also takes place in accordance with the urban objectives to create lively and diverse living spaces, according to those responsible.
a park for everyone
The planned park will not only act as a recreation room, but also offer various leisure opportunities. Mayor Jürgen Czernohorszky emphasizes: "With this new, climate -like green oasis in Simmering, we not only fulfill a long -awaited wish of the residents, but also create a park of the future." It is expected that the park will create inviting prerequisites for all visitors in summer by shade trees and cooling elements. Many different seats will not only offer space for calm, but also promote social interactions.
The park's first construction phase comprises about 28,000 m² and is expected to begin in 2026. Those responsible are confident that this park is a central part of the high quality of life in the future district.
international expertise for design
For the planning, an EU-wide competition process was carried out, in which the international planning team from Bogl from Copenhagen and Nuwela from Munich emerged. Their approach is to illuminate the invisible potential of the area, which lies in the combination of the enormous size of the gasometers and the intimate green spaces.
The new city district on the gasometer apron is part of a comprehensive urban planning plan that has been developed since 2019. In recent years, the former industrial area has turned into a lively area that has already created living space and over 20,000 jobs for more than 15,000 people. The integration of the park will significantly increase the quality of life in the region and offer the opportunity to actively experience nature.
District head Thomas Steinhart recognizes the importance of the park: "The public green spaces in our district are very popular. The new park will be a valuable additional offer for all residents." He emphasizes the social aspects of the new open space, which contributes to making Simmering even more livable. This is particularly important because Parks are public meeting points where neighbors can exchange ideas and form a community.
The first expansion stage of the plan will concentrate on the southern area of the gasometer, where the city is already owner. This enables a rapid implementation, which is expected to be completed by 2028. The entire parking area is completed in these years and will not only shape the cityscape of Simmering, but will also become an important social and ecological concerns for the entire community.
