New rules in Bernardgasse: school classes clarify via driving ban
Die Bernardgasse, a newly designed residential street in the Neubau district, has experienced an important change: cars are no longer allowed to drive through here. In a joint campaign on Tuesday, November 19, two school classes, under the supervision of Grätzlpolita officer Hubert Seidl and district leader Markus Reiter (Greens), want to draw attention to this regulation.
Since the official opening in September, residents can enjoy numerous innovations, including 36 new trees, the sealing of more than 7,000 square meters and additional seating. The focus of the redesign is on the promotion of pedestrians and cyclists, who can now fully stroll and drive in Bernardgasse.
Enlightenment about false drivers
In order to draw attention to the new ban on passage, the school children organize a kind of "awareness" measure in the action mentioned. From 9:30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., the team will secure the area with the students and distribute "acidic surprises" to those drivers who do not adhere to the new rules. As already reported , this should be a humorous, but serious appeal to increase traffic safety and to promote respectful use of the newly created living environment.
This measure is part of a major initiative for traffic calming in the area and should help in the long term to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy Bernardgasse to the fullest.
