Neubaugasse becomes the pedestrian zone on the Advent Days

During Christmas, Neubaugasse in Vienna becomes a pedestrian paradise for four Advent Day. On Data November 30, December 7, December 14 and December 21, the road remains closed to motorized road users from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This measure is intended to ensure that people can do their Christmas shopping in peace and security.

The decision to expand the pedestrian zone between Lindengasse and Westbahnstrasse came in cooperation with the single dealers in the district. A calmed shopping environment is thus created, which benefits the many visitors. Additional traffic restrictions mean that no cars, bicycles or e-scooters are permitted in this area and that private garages and holding zones cannot be used.

The connection to public transport is also adapted. Bus line 13a will not drive through Neubaugasse on these days. Instead, the bus takes place in two sections: a connection between Alser Straße/Skodagasse and Burggasse as well as a then between the main train station and Neubaugasse. Access to the adjacent streets is mainly via Zieglergasse. These changes should make the way for the pedestrians Clear and at the same time reduce traffic pressure in the city center.

In order to ensure security during this busy time, the police will be more present on site. Peter Herzog, a representative of the community of interests on the new building, commented positively about this measure and said: "We welcome the decision to press the Pause button for traffic in Neubaugasse on the Advent Days. This makes the meeting zone even more secure for our customers, and the rest that many long for a relaxed Christmas stroll."
