1,600 ideas for a better climate: Citizens shape Vienna active with
In the Vienna districts Alsergrund, Meidling and Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, the citizens have the opportunity to bring their ideas for a better climate. This year, impressive 1,600 suggestions were submitted, which are now waiting to be presented to the public and checked for their feasibility. This lively participation shows how important people in Vienna are improving their environment.
In mid -November, public exhibitions will start in the three districts, where all ideas are shown. Here interested parties can browse through the suggestions and find out about the further course of the process. These exhibitions are a good opportunity for citizens to actively deal with the topics of sustainability and environmental protection.
technical review and further steps
After the presentation, experts will take a close look at the ideas submitted. They check whether the proposals are in the area of responsibility of the city of Vienna and whether they serve the public interest. The commitment of the population is essential because the projects have to be implemented in a practical and sensible manner. Such an approach not only promotes the acceptance of the projects, but also strengthens trust in political decision -making processes.
The final phase of the project begins in spring 2025. The best ideas together with the citizens are further developed into specific projects. In May, a representative jury of citizens will decide which of these projects will be implemented with the available means. The city has set itself the goal of completing these projects within two years.
The Viennese climatic team has set itself the task of supporting the people who live in Vienna to actively shape their environment. Citizens had had the opportunity since 2022 to bring their proposals to other districts such as Margareten, Mariahilf and Simmering. The variety of ideas ranges from more greening to community kitchens to innovative solutions such as cargo bikes for the neighborhood. This environmentally conscious commitment shows that the population has great potential that needs to be promoted.
Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky from the SPÖ emphasizes that the strong participation of the Viennese is a clear proof of the high interest in shaping a better environment. "The Viennese once again showed how many ideas and knowledge are in them to make their living environment even better," said Czernohorszky.
The high number of ideas submitted this year is a milestone in the help of shaping climate protection measures. The city of Vienna plans to continue this dialogue with the population and create further opportunities to strengthen the commitment to environmental protection. Because ultimately everyone benefits from a better climate and a city worth living.
