Maintaining the Margaretenplatz: Your ideas are in demand!
In an exciting step to beautify Margaretenplatz in Vienna, the local authorities have announced that the citizens of the district are invited to share their ideas and wishes for redesigning. The project is part of the Viennese climate team, which was launched in 2022 to work on solutions together with the population and experts. The aim is to improve the space and the surrounding area in a variety of ways and to make it more livable for the residents.
The redesign of the Margaretenplatz is not only a moment of change, but also a comprehensive initiative to green and remove public space. These measures are part of an ambitious rack -off offensive in the city, within the framework of which other areas such as Margaretenstrasse and Pilgramgasse should also be included in the planning. An important aspect of this project is to actively involve the residents in the process.
surveys and participation
The redesign survey runs until mid -November. Residents can not only give their suggestions personally on site, but also take part online or by post. This accessibility is crucial to promote broad participation. The aim of this survey is to understand the wishes of the Margaretner in relation to the upgrading of the square and the improvement of the traffic situation. You want to find out how the local economy can be strengthened and what specific changes are desired.
In addition to the survey, various information stands and Grätzl walks are also planned, which give citizens the opportunity to exchange ideas directly with the district manager Silvia Janković (SPÖ). Janković emphasizes the importance of cooperation with the community: "We would like to shape the climate protection in Margareten together with the Margaretners, because they are the experts for their Grätzl. The Viennese climatic team offers us a great opportunity for this."The results of the survey will be included in the further project planning by spring 2025. The responsibility for the next steps lies with the departments of the innovation, urban planning and mobility. In the meantime, the specific design is filed, so that the planned measures are to be implemented by the end of 2030.
Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ) emphasizes how important the citizen participation is: "In the Vienna climate team, citizens can actively help shape their Grätzl. Projects that are further developed with the city and the district at eye level are created with the aim of making the Grätl more climate -friendly and even worth living."
The mobility city councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) is also enthusiastic about the initiative: “With our large deflection and greening offensive, we consistently drive the climate crossing of the public space in the entire urban area. I am pleased that the Grätzl around Margaretenplatz, according to the motto 'Get out of the asphalt', will benefit from more greening and a better quality of stay in the future will! "
This measure could be significant change for the Grätzl and give its residents the opportunity to actively participate in their design. Information on the survey and the upcoming events can be found at www.wien.gv.at/margareten
