Creative walls: High school students in Alterlaa inspire with tape art

in Liesing on November 21, the pupils of the Alterlaa high school showed their impressive works of art, which were created as part of the “Tape Art” project. The event took place at Altmannsdorfer Straße 156 and attracted numerous parents and interested parties who could be guided through the exhibition by the young artists.

The headmaster Ingmar Horeth had the idea for this project to creative the school rooms in a creative way. The art teacher Simone Hintermayer-Scholz put the vision into practice and said: "It was the perfect chance of making something really cool with the students. And the kids were fully there." District chief Gerald Bishop of the SPÖ was also present at the presentation and had the creative masterpieces showed.

creative freedom and materials

The students Selin and Marwa reported on the freedom they had in the design: "We were able to decide for ourselves how we design the walls." At the beginning, a motif was projected onto the wall using overhead projector, and the students traced it with pencils before working with colorful adhesive strips. This method proved to be particularly practical, so that they could implement their works of art step by step.

The variety and imagination of the works were impressive. The spectrum ranged from abstracts to sea worlds to characters from Pokémon and homage to football stars. In addition, the students wrote short texts and poems that they wrote about their works of art. The director of the high school, Markus Michelitsch, was enthusiastic about the creativity of his students: "This is particularly great when you consider that it is not easy to inspire the students for analogous activities these days." The result is lively walls that the school will beautify for a long time.

If you want to experience the diversity and the creative potential of the students up close, you can admire the works of art in the coming weeks. The connection between art and education is particularly impressive here and promotes the commitment of young people in a playful way.
