Vienna is investing 400 million euros for sports facilities by 2030!

On June 23, 2025, the Vienna municipal council advised on the financial statements for 2024. In this context, Yvonne Rychly (SPÖ) referred to the sports facility development plan, which provides for a comprehensive development of the sports infrastructure by 2030. Until then, the city has invested up to 400 million euros in various sports projects, such as the new sports arena Vienna and the extensive modernization of existing systems, with a photovoltaic system at the Happel Stadium being planned. The aim is to optimize the training places for both popular sports and performance -oriented athletes.

The sports facility development plan, also known as "Sport. Vienna. 2030", was introduced to address the needs of the Viennese population according to suitable sports facilities. Markus Ornig (Neos) emphasized the positive role of non -partisan cooperation and confirmed the need for a solid concept to modernize the sports infrastructure. With over 200 feedback from sports clubs, a clear need for additional training opportunities, especially in indoor sports, was determined.

In addition to the projects already mentioned, Rychly announced the basic renovation of the Sporthalle Favorites, which is designed as low -energy and low -maintenance hall. The Stadium of the Vienna Sports Club is also intended to receive a photovoltaic system to support the Vienna network. The renewal of lawn and athletics systems in smaller sports fields from clubs are also planned

The extensive investment program provides for a total of 150 million euros for the new building and the renovation of sports facilities. This includes the construction of a multifunctional sports hall that will offer space for 3,000 spectators, as well as three training halls in lightweight construction and the general renovation of urban round halls. A significant aspect is the focus on sustainability, because new functional buildings should achieve the climate-active 'silver' or 'gold' standard.

Another central point of the session was health care in Vienna. Alexandra Rezaei (SPÖ) reported on projects for health prevention, such as the free flu vaccination and mobile vaccination campaigns. A latest HPV vaccination offer is now also aimed at 30-year-olds to strengthen protection against certain types of cancer. In addition, a health care center opened in Landstrasse, and the pilot project "School Nurses" was launched to improve health promotion in schools.

Luise Däger-Gregori (SPÖ) emphasized the need for care and the offer of transitional care to relieve the hospitals. The city of Vienna relies on the training and long -term binding of nursing staff to meet the increasing need. In addition, Vienna is investing 3.3 billion euros in an extensive hospitality construction program and the expansion of decentralized health centers to ensure health insurance.
