Generations united: Wiener Sport-Club inspires seniors in Ottakring
The Vienna Sport Club, a traditional institution in Hernals, has given a special invitation. On November 9, the last home game of the Regionalliga Ost against Marchfeld Danubeauen took place, and the senior citizens of the "Houses to Life" were also invited. These old friends of the club came to the temporary home of the sports club in Ottakring as guests, since the regular stadium is currently being rebuilt and remains closed until 2026
The gratifying news was particularly well received because the residents of the Liebharstal house, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the training center, were able to take part. "We are very pleased that we can now cheer on the legendary sports club up close," emphasized house director Ulrike Geier-Plaschke.
a special impetus
The day was not only shaped by an exciting game that ended with a draw (2: 2), but also from a symbolic honorary core, which took place together with the district manager Stefanie Lamp and the director of the house. Simon Bluma, deputy managing director of the "Houses to Life", emphasized that this is a nice moment and a strong sign of appreciation towards all members of society. It created an atmosphere in which the seniors immediately felt part of the big sports club community.
District head Lamp said that the participation of the seniors shows how important inclusion and participation are for a self -determined life in old age. The fans of the sports club also show through their support how sport can combine generations. "Whether young football talents or loyal fans of their prime - generations come together in football," said Lamp.
The WSC section manager, David Krapf-Günther, added: "The Vienna Sport Club not only stands for sporting success, but also for social values such as diversity, inclusion and tolerance." The fan base, known as "friend of the cemetery stands", expresses friendliness and creativity, which makes the games a special experience. Instead of negative actions, confetti and applause are celebrated for everyone involved.
This invitation and playing together symbolize a bridge between generations and show that the Vienna Sports Club plays an important role not only on the field, but also in the community. For more information about these developments, See the report on www.meinbezirk.at .
