New skate hall in Floridsdorf: A paradise for roll sport fans

In Vienna-Floridsdorf there is now an exciting novelty for sports enthusiasts: Last Friday, the first hall was opened, which is only devoted to roll sport. Here, residents can become active in any weather with skateboards, BMX wheels, inline skates and scooters. The hall has enough space for up to 170 people who can try out their tricks and jumps at the same time.

The new skate hall in Vohburggasse is open all year round until 10 p.m. In the winter months from November to February, the hall has continuously opened seven days a week. An open concept applies, although children must be at least six years old in order to be able to participate. For different user groups there are both individual and mixed periods that can be used. The Skateboard Club Cienna also organizes special courses for skateboarders and scooter drivers.

City Councilor Christoph Return (NEOS) was enthusiastic about the opening of the hall and described it as an important step in promoting child and youth friendliness in Vienna. This facility was created as part of a participation process and offers much more than just space for sport. Social pedagogical offers and open child and youth work should also take place there.

Sports City Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) also emphasized the importance of sport by saying: "Sport is the first point of contact with cohesion and team spirit for many Viennese." He made it clear that the skaters deserved modern systems. "Skaten belongs to Vienna and we confirm that more than ever today," he added. This shows how the city of Vienna endeavors to promote urban sport and to strengthen the community with sports offers.
