Wedding celebration in Vienna: Financial police reveals illegal employment

A very ordinary wedding day in Vienna-Floridsdorf took an unexpected turn when the financial police started. "Even the most romantic celebration needs a clean billing," emphasized Finance Minister Magnus Brunner. He explained the importance of the consistent fight against illegal employment. His words made it clear that the authorities are determined to act against undeclared work and social abuse. "We will take all the necessary measures to protect the integrity of our labor market," he said, making it clear that such actions would not remain unpunished.

The legal consequences for the employer of these illegal employment are considerable. Penalties between 2,000 and 20,000 euros can be due per illegal employee. In addition, the penalties for undeclared work can be between 730 and 2,180 euros per employee. The regulations regarding social service fraud, in which the perpetrators have to count on prison terms of up to three years, are particularly sensitive.
