Vienna: Group's start -ups are booming and creating 22,000 jobs!

A persistent trend in Vienna is shown in the figures of the company start -ups. The Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW) reports on a remarkable increase in new start -ups in 2023, with a total of 9,561 new companies. In the current year, 5,170 companies have already been founded in the first half of the year, which corresponds to the highest rate since the beginning of the surveys in 1993

The effects of these new start -ups are significant because they are responsible for around 22,000 new jobs, both directly and indirectly. This dynamic shows Vienna as a capital of founding in the country.

The founders of today

The average age of the founders, which is 36 years old, is particularly impressive. This is remarkable because it is significantly below the Austrian average. "Founders want to take responsibility and make their lifestyle flexible," explains Clemens Schmidgruber, CEO of the Junge Wirtschaft Vienna. These start -ups are not only economically relevant, but also a sign of the new entrepreneurial way of thinking in the city.

An outstanding example of the positive effects of new foundations is the market of Thomas de Martin, which was launched in Severingasse. Marketing combines producers and consumers and thus promotes regional added value. Schmidgruber emphasizes that such innovative concepts help to strengthen the local economy and community.

In order to further promote the founding culture in Vienna, the WKW offers various support options, including personal advice and website seminars. Interested parties can find out more about start-ups on the founding and successor days, which take place on November 6 and 7 in the Haus der Wiener Business.

In addition, the Junge Wirtschaft Vienna is committed to a better founding culture and calls for relief such as digital start -up options and the permission to start the company from the age of 16. The campaign "Thank you!" aims to illuminate and celebrate the diversity in the Vienna economy.
