Unique award ceremony: innovative technologies for more self -determination
On October 17, 2024, the Catamaran event center welcomes the innovators of the future in Vienna when the unique price is awarded. This award ceremony is a key event that brings students, students and people with disabilities together to develop technologies that enable more self -determination and participation in everyday life. Organized by the Austrian Disabled Council in cooperation with the Vienna University of Technology and Uniqa, the project aims to reward ideas that enrich the lives of people with disabilities.
From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., six teams have the opportunity to present their prototypes. This work was designed by students and students of numerous educational institutions, including the HTL Donaustadt and the Vienna University of Technology. The projects presented include a wide range of technologies, such as the "Bionicarm" and the "digital bell ball", which want to reduce barriers in an innovative way.
The program of the event
The event begins with a reception between 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., followed by the opening by Heidemarie Egger, who acts as a moderator. Important speakers such as Filip Kisiel from the Uniqa Foundation and Klaus Widl, President of the Austrian Disabled Council, ensure an inspiring start. In addition, an interview with an expert with disabilities will take place in order to highlight the perspectives and challenges with which those affected are confronted.
The prototypes are presented with an intensive feedback round from the audience, which is particularly valuable for the participating teams. After a short break there is another highlight: a keynote by Arnold Baca, which will talk about the “Smart Sport Assistance” project, which was developed under the Sparkling Science 2.0 concept. The awarding of the documents will be the end of the event before all participants have the opportunity to talk to snacks and drinks and to test the prototypes.
The accessibility of the event is an important concern. Deaf and hard of hearing people can pursue the event in Austrian sign language, and further support offers such as written interpreting are available. The Catamaran event center is also easy to reach, directly at the U2 station Donaumarina.
The entire event is also streamed, so that interested parties who cannot be on site can still participate. You can find the link to transfer on the website of the Austrian Disabled Council. For more information about the registration and details of accessibility, interested parties can contact Emil Benesch, who is happy to provide information.
In order to send a positive signal of inclusion and the pursuit of equality for people with disabilities, the event is made possible by the support of the Austrian Trade Union Federation and the Uniqa Foundation. The possibility that young people present their ideas and draws the public aware of the need for self -determination is an important step towards an equal society.
