diversions and restrictions in the Vienna public network from today

diversions and restrictions in the Vienna public network from today

As of today, passengers in Vienna can prepare for changes in the public transport network. The tram line D is not continuously in operation due to necessary construction work on the Schlickplatz on the Alsergrund. This work is necessary because the track systems at the Schlickplat are worn out and must now be replaced.
The construction work should take about two and a half weeks and be completed by November 8th. Until then, line D is driven in two sections. The first section runs from Absberggasse to the stock exchange and is then led to the Schottenring. The second section leads from Nußdorf to the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof before the route is diverted via Wallensteinplatz in Brigittenau. The part between Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof and the stock exchange is not served during this time.
impairments for line 71
In order to enable the operation of line D, tram line 71 is also adapted. This now only runs between Kaiserebersdorf and Schwarzenbergplatz and is restricted in their usual length.
In addition, Wiener Linien GmbH recommended that travelers use alternative lines to avoid any waiting times. The lines U4, 37, 38 and 40A are available as alternatives. However, the U4 is not spared restrictions either. Due to an exchange of switches in the Heiligenstadt station, there are extended waiting times on this line. From November 4, the carrier plant of the Alserbach Bridge will also be renovated, which means that only every second U4 runs beyond Schwedenplatz to Heiligenstadt. These temporary changes are designed to ensure the security and reliability of the public transport network in Vienna as Wien.orf.at reports .
Viennese passengers should therefore keep an eye on their travel times and necessary routes in order to adapt to the traffic restrictions as best as possible.
