Raid in Lower Austria: eight arrests on drug offensive!

An intensive year of the investigation has now proven to be a successful campaign against a Serbian drug gang. Officials from the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office have arrested eight suspects and secured drugs in the street value of 850,000 euros. The large-scale operation, which goes back to a note, led to the discovery of several cannabis indoor plantations in Vienna and Lower Austria, such as .

The investigation that started in December 2023 showed that the group had operated professionally organized cannabis plantations. During searches in Mönichkirchen (Neunkirchen district), a disused facility was found in which around 120 kilograms of cannabis had been produced, while an active plantation with 1,920 cannabis plants was uncovered in St. Andrä-Wördern (District Tulln). Three Serbian citizens were arrested there. Overall, it is estimated that the two plantations have generated around 360 kilograms of cannabis herb between autumn 2023 and June 2024, even though the group of perpetrators manipulated the electricity meters to avoid high costs - the damage caused is around 1.5 million euros, such as 5min.at reports .

In addition to the drug finds in the plantations, several apartments were targeted in further searches in Vienna. In an apartment in the 10th district, 12 kilograms of cannabis flowers and 1 kilogram of cocaine were secured, while another apartment in the 16th district revealed 2 kilograms of heroin and a loaded fist fir weapon. All arrests were carried out under the supervision of the Wiener Neustadt public prosecutor and required the support of specialized police units, including the Cobra.
