155 new apartments in Donaustadt: Arwag celebrates social housing!
Breitenleer Straße 14, 1220 Wien, Österreich - On June 4, 2025, Arwag Holding-Aktiengesellschaft handed over a total of 155 subsidized apartments in the new project "Life in the Kagran Flur". This ceremonial handover took place in the presence of district chief Ernst Nevrivy in the 22nd district of Vienna. The apartments are located at the addresses of Breitenleer Straße 14 and in the long field 47–51 and were handed over in several stages. The offer ranges from two to four-room apartments with an area of 51 to 88 m² that have private open areas such as balconies, loggias or self-gardens.
of the 155 apartments are 78 particularly cheap smart apartments that are supported by the residential building funding in Vienna. The project also includes three business premises as well as 92 underground parking and around 360 bicycle parking spaces. Arwag relies on a sustainable energy concept, which includes component activation for heating and tempering as well as a central heat pump for hot water preparation. A photovoltaic system on the roof and a faith greening underline the ecological claim of the residential project.

The residential complex is characterized by its urban-natural location, with a direct connection to the Kagraner Platz, which offers excellent public accessibility. Workshops and activitiysis on social sustainability support the newcomers and promote integration into the community. The entire residential area is part of a comprehensive urban development concept that is intended to improve the quality of life in this area.

The development is designed in such a way that it is isolated from the Breitenleer Straße through a building seal and integrated generous green areas that upgrade the living environment. There are numerous leisure facilities nearby, including the Hirschstettner Badeteich and the Old Danube. There is also a large sports field in the immediate vicinity.
Vienna as a pioneer in the funded residential building
The model of housing funding in Vienna has proven to be successful and creates high -quality, need -oriented living space for affordable rents. According to Wohnberatung-wien.at, about half of the subsidized apartments receive the status of particularly favorable smart apartments. Sustainability and social mix have a top priority in the allocation, which is ensured by a strict competitive and selection process.
The income herself for subsidized rental apartments is set for 2025 as follows: for one person it is € 59,320, for two people at € 88,400 and so on. This system ensures that disadvantaged groups can enjoy living space without wearing excessive financial burdens.
Arwag celebrates 35 years of successful activity this year and has implemented over 180 objects and around 17,000 residential units to date. The handover of the new apartments is another step towards a livable and inclusive urban development.
