Vienna starts through: giant investments and new coalition plans!
On Tuesday, the coalition pact between the SPÖ and the NEOS was presented in a press conference. Mayor Michael Ludwig and Vice Mayor Bettina Emmerling presented the new government program, which is considered progress for Vienna. With the introduction of an additional city council, the city council will now consist of 13 members. The SPÖ keeps six government members while the NEOS will provide a city council. Six other city councils are represented from the opposition: the FPÖ with three, the Greens with two and the ÖVP with a member.
Ludwig praised the successful cooperation between the parties in the past five years and emphasized the focus on strengthening Vienna business location and an active labor market policy. The aim is to bring more international corporations to Vienna and to support inpatient trade. For this purpose, measures to promote tourism and targeted city marketing are also considered. Another central concern of the new coalition is the establishment of Vienna as a leading location for artificial intelligence, especially with the planned construction of a AI gigafactory in the Seestadt Aspern.
Digital transformation Vienna
The digital transformation is an essential part of the government program. Vienna should become a "digitization capital", whereby the focus should be on people. A digital agenda is currently being promoted in the city that wants to ensure that digitization serves people and that access to digital service lines is guaranteed for all age groups. This also includes special help services and educational offers for generation 65plus to close the digital gap. wien.gv.at emphasizes that the entitlement to analog and telephone contacts remains.
Numerous measures are already being implemented as part of the digital agenda, including apps such as "Sag's Vienna" and public WiFi. Public-private partnerships and social partnership approaches play a crucial role in the digitization of Vienna. The long-term goals include the establishment of clear rules for online platforms and a harmonization of IT solutions in the city administration. digital.gv.at
economic perspectives and investments
The outlook on the financial framework shows a planned expansion program in the health sector with a budget of 3.3 billion euros, with a special focus on gender medicine. At the same time, demands for a nationwide regulation for minimum security were expressed, but precise payment heights are still unclear. Another major investment project is the digitization of small and medium-sized companies (KMUS) through the "Vienna Digital" funding program and the support of IT companies that want to settle or grow in Vienna oe24.at .
In the coming months, an intensive evaluation phase will follow. The first committees are already pending on Wednesday before Ludwig will present the new government team on June 10th in the constituent meeting of the local council. Previously, the NEOS will vote on the new city government on Saturday. The course for Vienna's future is set - both on political, economic and digital level.
