Vienna breaks overnight record: 1.8 million guests in April 2025!
In April 2025, according to Vienna Tourism, Vienna recorded a record of around 1.8 million guests. This means an increase of 15 percent compared to the previous year and is the highest value that has ever been reached in a April. The previous record came from 2019 with almost 1.6 million overnight stays. A decisive factor for this increase are the Easter holidays, which took place in 2024 in March and 2025 in April, which led to a noticeable shift in the visitor frequency. In March 2025, the net power turnover of the accommodation companies was around 87.2 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 2 percent compared to the previous year. The sales are not yet available for April 2025.
Vienna has already had around 5.4 million guests of guests since the beginning of 2025, which corresponds to an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous year. The average utilization of the hotel room was around 77 percent, compared to 72 percent in April 2024. The bed utilization also improved to 59.4 percent in April 2025, compared to 55 percent in the previous year. statistical basics
The overnight number achieved in Vienna are based on the accommodation statistics, which is recorded as part of the Tourism Statistics Ordinance. Commercial and private accommodation companies report their arrivals and overnight stays to the respective municipality. Mandatory reports are made for municipalities with at least 1,000 overnight stays over several years. The results of the monthly overnight statistics are published about 25 days after the end of the report, with final data available around a month later. Free-free overnight stays in known and relatives are not included in these figures and are estimated to be a quarter of the overall soft, as Statistics Austria reports.
