Who will be Kogler's successor? Certainly the only candidate before the deadline!
Who will be Kogler's successor? Certainly the only candidate before the deadline!
The Greens are faced with a pioneering decision: The application period for the successor of Werner Kogler as the federal spokesman ends today, on June 1, 2025. So far, only the incumbent climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler has officially applied for the successor. With the support of well -known party colleagues such as Alma Zadic and Stefan Kaineder, both of whom forego their own candidacy, Guessler sees good chances. Kogler has been at the top of the party since the National Council election in 2017 and led the Greens to the federal government in 2020.
The Federal Congress for the election of the new Federal Spokes will take place on June 29, 2025 in Vienna. A total of 265 delegates are entitled to vote, which will vote on the day of the congress. An announcement of possible other candidates is scheduled for June 3, 2025. However, there is currently no internal competition, which strengthens Gewessler's position.
global challenges and responsibility
In their statements, Gewessler is concerned about global challenges. Topics such as the Ukraine War, economic problems as well as natural disasters such as floods and forest fires are the focus. These challenges arouse her the desire for a better world and raise responsibility towards future generations. In order to reaffirm their candidacy, Gewessler announced a press conference for Thursday morning.
The politician expert: Bewessler's candidacy as a logical consequence of their previous performance and the consent to the EU Redaturation Act. Nevertheless, they demand an extended thematic width in party work in order to be able to react appropriately to the current political and social challenges. The Greens achieved only 8.24 percent in the 2024 National Council election, which corresponds to a decline of 5.66 percentage points compared to the previous election.
The way to the green network
An important aspect of green work is the green network. This digital platform offers members, committees as well as district and local associations practical tools for political work. Access to actions, positions and election campaigns as well as the possibility of changing member data is used for transparency and efficiency within the party. Applications before the party parliament are published online in the application green, and members have the option of entering amendments there.
A contact address is set up for questions about the green network login. Instructions for setting up the 2-factor authentication are also available. These digital offers are a sign that the Greens endeavor to give themselves modern structures and to promote democratic participation.
