Canton of Graubünden extends e-voting to seven other municipalities from 2025

The canton of Graubünden consistently drives the modernization of its voting process. With the expansion of the e-voting to seven additional municipalities for the coming year, the Swiss Region is a pioneer in digital democracy processes.

The positive interim balance sheet after the first electronic votes confirms the success of the project. According to the official announcement on Wednesday, the safety of the system was guaranteed at all times, which strengthens the trust of the citizens.

The high participation of the voters in the pilot communities Domat/Ems, Lumnezia, Pontresina, Poschiavo and Safiental in the last urn gang in September is particularly gratifying. Over ten percent of the voters opted for electronic voting, which underlines the acceptance of the new procedure.

From May 18, 2025, the citizens in Arosa, Bonaduz, Davos, Domleeschg, Malans, Maienfeld and Silvaplana also have the opportunity to coordinate electronically. This expansion of the e-voting is gradually extended to other municipalities in the course of the coming year.

The approval for e-voting attempts received Graubünden from the Federal Council in November 2023.
