Drive into the blue: insights into the world of Welte Wood and Gstach-Hof

On October 7, 60 members of the Vorarlberg 50plus Sulz-Röthis-Viktorsberg association experienced an exciting “drive into the blue”. This event offered an excellent opportunity to learn more about the region and its local companies.

The group's first stop was in Welte Holz, which has been known as one of the most modern band sawmill in the Lake Constance region for over 30 years. The history of the company goes back to 1901 when it was founded on the outdoor in Sulz. In 1991 Erwin Welte, the father of today's managing director Franz Welte, took over. After two devastating fires, which the sawmill in Sulz seriously affected, the family decided to build a modern location in Feldkirch-Gisingen. Construction started in 2011 and production started early in 2012. The company currently employs 30 people and processes around 50,000 solid meters of wood annually, which leads to sales of around 12 million euros.

Impressive insights in Welte Wood

The participants were impressed by the size of the wooden warehouse and the impressive performance of the machines. The computer -controlled processing illustrated the modernity and efficiency of the company, which opened the eyes of many new thirst for knowledge.

Afterwards the trip led the group to the picturesque Gstach-Hof in Brederis. This place not only offers a romantic ambience for weddings, but is also hospitable for many other festivals. The participants enjoyed a warm snack in the large hall of the courtyard. The good mood was perfectly rounded off by the musical performance by Herbert, Christl, Luggi and Bruno.

Special thanks go to the chairwoman Reinelde and the board of the association for the excellent organization and the successful selection of the goals for this excursion. Such events strengthen the cohesion among members and offer valuable opportunities to get to know regional companies better and enjoy the beauty of the area.
