Weapons bid zone at the Dornbirner train station: strict rules and high punishments!

In the past few weeks, the efforts to introduce weapons ban zones in several cities have come to a fortune. Above all, the focus is on the train station in Dornbirn after violent incidents often took place where knives played a role. The police spokesman Fabian Marchetti explains the legal basis and makes it clear that certain objects, such as custom or hunting knives, are allowed with a corresponding explanation. Accordingly, people who use a pocket knife for harmless purposes can also carry this in a possible prohibition of weapons. However, the punishments for violations of the ban increase significantly: up to 1,000 euros and in the event of a repetition even up to 4,600 euros. If someone cannot pay, there is a risk of replacement imprisonment of up to four weeks, as reported. A decision regarding the implementation in Dornbirn is still pending, while other cities such as Innsbruck and Vienna have already taken appropriate measures.

weapons ban also in Frankfurt

at the same time, Frankfurt am Main also introduced a prohibition of weapons zone that came into force from Wednesday evening. There are now strict rules in the Bahnhofsviertel: wearing weapons, including knives with blades over four centimeters, is prohibited between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. If you disregard the ban, you have to expect a fine of at least 500 euros, while repeat offenders have to pay up to 10,000 euros. The introduction of this ban is regarded in response to the increasing knife offenses in the district, which have tripled since 2019. Frankfurt officials emphasize that this measure is a necessary step to improve security, since the Bahnhofsviertel is considered a focus of crime. In Hesse, this is already the second city that introduces such a ban - Wiesbaden made the beginning in 2019, where a positive assessment of the security situation after the introduction of the weapon ban also took place, such as the hessenschau reported.
