Dramatic Ländle derby: Hard defeats Bregenz just under 28:27

In the 103rd Ländle derby between Bregenz Handball and Alpla HC Hard, there was an exciting show of strength that captivated the spectators in the sold-out hall. The athletes fought a gripping duel, in which the goalkeepers also performed exceptional performances. Ralf Patrick Häusle from Bregenz was characterized by 13 parades in the first half and had an impressive catch rate of over 54 percent. On the other hand, the 42-year-old Golub Doknic also demonstrated his class with 44.44 percent and eight parades. In the second half, Bregenz changed the goalkeeper, and Jan Kroiss, who kept the catch rate at 33.33 percent, delighted his fans.

The game finally ended with a narrow 27:27 win for the Harder handball players. Bregenz had to accept the first home defeat in the HLA master league. In the table they are now in fifth place, while Hard takes second place behind UHK Krems through this victory.

statements of the players

Andreas Schröder, who was awarded nine goals as the best thrower of the game, commented on the defeat: "It is difficult for me to say something after the game because it just feels sad. We have offered a great fight. The outcome for us is a maximum bitter." He repeated the recurring problems of his team, which caused difficulties both on the offensive and on the defensive, and was optimistic about the potential in the team.

On the other hand, Dejan Babic from Alpla HC Hard enjoyed victory. "It was very, very important for us. Not only because it is the greatest derby in Austria, but also because we were not good against Ferlach. We had to win this game. The feeling after the game is good," said Babic and underlined the emotional value of the victory.

The balance sheet of both teams shows a clear difference in the regularity of their services. While Bregenz often appeared nervously in previous games, Hard showed a more stable form. Both teams now have an eye on the upcoming games before they meet again in the derby. On Friday, December 6th, the harder will be challenged in the game against Jags Vöslau, while Bregenz has the HSG Graz. These games are not only important for the points, but also the dress rehearsal for the next Ländle derby, which will take place on Tuesday, December 10th, in the ÖHB Cup and to move into the third round.
