Vorarlberg Milk: Cooperative votes for future -oriented cooperation!

Hohenems, Österreich - The General Assembly of Vorarlberg Milk Egen took place in the Otten Gravor in Hohenems on Monday evening. The focus of the meeting was on the final report on the past financial year and the future plan, in particular the desired cooperation with NÖM AG. At 96.47 %, the cooperative members were overwhelming for the application for cooperation with NÖM AG. From June 1, 2025, farmers will be paid for around 5 cents higher milk price for GMO-free milk.

Another essential aspect of the agreement is the direct participation of the Vorarlberg Milk vertical of 3 % in NÖM AG. In addition, the production company in Feldkirch is converted into an independent company, Vorarlberg Milch GmbH. With this measure, Vorarlberg Milch Egen will also receive one of nine seats on the Supervisory Board of NÖM AG. Lower Austria AG plans to develop Feldkirch into a competence center for hard and cut cheese, which is also associated with investments in dairy and production infrastructure.

brand identity and production figures

Despite the far -reaching changes, the "Ländle Milk" brand remains unchanged for consumers. In 2024, the Vorarlberg Milch Egen processed around 55 million kg milk with 125 employees and achieved sales of around 56 million euros. Impressive 24 % of the products were exported abroad. The Vorarlberg Milch also successfully cut off the World Cheese Awards in Portugal and received four gold, two silver and three bronze awards.

Raimund Wachter, the managing director of Vorarlberg Milch Egen, will announce his resignation after 29 years in the company, but will remain in office until the transaction is processed. The NÖM AG, which employs 1,000 people and generated sales of around 685 million euros in 2024, will be strengthened by this collaboration.

discussions about mergers and market changes

The proposal for the merger with NÖM AG is discussed in the context of the current challenges in the dairy industry. Franz Moosbrugger, a voice leader in this debate, pleads for the merger to strengthen the market position and increase efficiency. The entire discussion reflects developments in the industry, which is characterized by an increasing concentration process and structural change.

In Germany, milk production is the most important branch of agriculture. In 2020, 33.1 million tons of milk were generated there, of which a large part of dairies was delivered. The number of milk producers and companies is falling, while the structure is still in motion through reforms and price developments in the milk sector. Such trends have a direct impact on milk price development and the market strategies of companies in both Germany and Austria.

The cooperation between Vorarlberg Milch and NÖM not only represents a strategic decision for the companies involved, but could also have far -reaching effects on the entire milk market. In view of the challenges that the industry is currently experiencing, this cooperation could be crucial for the competitiveness and innovative strength of both companies.
