The main causes of fatal traffic accidents are lawn, carelessness and priority violations, as was worked out in the report of the Interior Ministry. [BMI] emphasizes that the police play a crucial role in surveillance and prevention.
Current accident statistics
The traffic accident balance sheet shows that in 2024 the number of racing dead in Austria could be significantly reduced. Our country now has more than 7.3 million approved vehicles, a number that, despite the increased traffic density, could not slow down the decline in fatal accidents. Development in the federal states, where the lowest figures on road fatalities have been recorded for 60 years, is particularly gratifying, as in the case of Lower Austria and Vorarlberg.

However, details on the injuries are still unclear. [ORF] informs that the accident has taken place in a strongly frequented area, which illustrates the health and security risks on our streets.
In conclusion, the traffic accident balance sheet shows that despite an overall positive trend in accident statistics, caution on Austria's streets is still required. The combination of prevention, increased monitoring and responsible behavior of road users remains crucial for the further reduction of accidents and injuries in road traffic.Details | |
