Persection hunt in Lower Austria: 18-year-old without a license and drugs at the wheel!
In a dramatic chase in Lower Austria, an 18-year-old was stopped by the police in Markersdorf-Haindorf. The young man was on the road without a valid driver's authority and initially escaped a preservation in Plankenstein, a catastral community of the Texing Valley municipality in the Melk district. The flight led him via the B19 back to Markersdorf-Haindorf, where he was finally stopped by the officials. The district administrative authorities are notified to arrange an advertisement against him. Witnesses and endangered road users are invited to contact the Lower Austria state transport department ( Exxpress.at ).
This arrest happened shortly after another incident in Ybbsitz, where a 17-year-old teenager came off the street by car and crashed into a bridge railing. The injured was brought to the State Clinic Scheibbs. An alkotest showed that the teenager was alcoholic, which led to a preliminary acceptance of his driver's license. In this case too, an advertisement to the district administration is to be expected.
alcohol at the wheel and its consequences
The incidents also make a highlight of the serious topic of alcohol abuse at the wheel. In Austria it is legally prescribed that the alcohol content in the blood may be less than 0.5 per thousand, while a particularly low limit of 0.1 per thousand applies to the test guide license owners as well as truck and bus drivers ( oeAmtc.at ). In the event of an alcohol content of more than 0.8 per thousand, the driver has to expect severe punishments, including the temporary withdrawal of steering authorization and high fines.
Last year, 2,676 traffic accidents in Austria were registered as alcohol, with 26 people died and 3,303 injured. These figures illustrate how dangerous alcohol consumption can be at the wheel. In traffic controls that result in less than 0.8 per thousand, there is a risk of administrative penalties and the obligation to participate in traffic coaching.
penalties for alcoholized driving
The punishments vary depending on the alcohol content. With a value of 1.2 to 1.6 per thousand, fines of 1,200 to 4,400 euros are planned, and the driver must also take part in a retraining for at least 4 months. From an alcohol content of 1.6 per thousand, the penalties increase to 1,600 to 5,900 euros, and the driver's license is withdrawn for at least six months ( Austria.gv.at ). In the event of repetition within 5 years, the consequences are even stricter.
The development of these two incidents underlines the importance of traffic regulations and the influence of alcohol on traffic safety. The police appealed to the drivers to take responsibility and to stick to the applicable regulations.
