Ukrainian border protection: 49,000 men from fleeing!
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the authorities of the Ukrainian border protection have successfully prevented around 49,000 conscripts from fleeing from the country. These measures are part of the mobilization that has been in force since February 2022 and the applicable law of war, which was set into Ukraine after the Russian invasion. In particular, men between the ages of 18 and 60 may only leave Ukraine with the approval of the district military replacement office. According to [vienna.at] (https://www.vienna.at/ukrainischer-grenzschutz-hinder-50-000-Maenner-an- der-Flucht/9418358), more than 45,000 of these men were arrested on the green border or for preliminary checks.
The willing to escape often face large financial hurdles, since they have to pay between 4,500 and almost 11,000 euros for the support that is offered to them when crossing the border. In addition, almost 900 escape helpers were uncovered, which were guilty of the crime of human smuggling.
humanitarian international law and its importance
In this context, humanitarian international law is of crucial importance. It includes rules that limit the effects of armed conflicts to civilians. Civilians must not be attacked in a targeted manner, and all parties to the conflict are obliged to comply with humanitarian international law. This also includes the protection of wounded, medical personnel and prisoners of war who have to be treated with humanity. Torture and abuse are prohibited under all circumstances, such as [ICRC] (https://www.icrc.org/de/document/humanitaeres-voelkerrecht-haeuftige-Genfer-gener-gener-genfen-genfer-gen
Humanitarian international law, also known as the term “war violation”, ensures that conflicts reduce the suffering of the civilian population to a minimum. This includes specific provisions that ensure the protection of cultural assets and public institutions. In addition, military actions must be proportionate and must not endanger civilians unnecessarily.
legal framework in the war
War people law regulates permission to apply military violence and how to deal with combatants and non -combatants, based on the principles of international law. In this context, the legality of the war and compliance with the rules in the war is of central importance. Although wars are fundamentally contrary to international law, there are exceptions, for example in the case of self-defense or in the case of a mandate of the UN Security Council, such as Wikipedia.
The developments of international criminal law and the international efforts to punish war crimes show the importance of humanitarian international law. The International Criminal Court (ICC), which was founded in 2002, has announced the struggle for corresponding crimes and will continue to promote compliance with these fundamental rights.
In the falling humanity, which shapes many conflicts, compliance with humanitarian international law remains of elementary importance in order to protect civilians in times of crisis and to minimize the devastating effects of war on people's lives
