Trump announces drastic entry bans for citizens from 12 countries!
Harvard, USA - President Donald Trump has announced a drastic entry lock for citizens from twelve selected countries today. This measure will come into force from June 9 and affects Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Some of the measures also aim at seven other nations: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela, which are partially entry restrictions. According to Trump, these measures are necessary because insufficient information about possible risks that are based on nationals from these countries are available. In addition, the affected states are accused of having exploited the USA by not being willing to withdraw asylum seekers or citizens who are obliged to leave, as [OE24] reports.
Trump, who caused excitement with the controversial “Muslim Ban” during his first term, relies on a restrictive immigration policy again. The then "Muslim Ban" led to chaotic scenes at the airports in 2017, and only in 2018 the Supreme Court confirmed a revised version of the entry ban, which also included North Korea. Trump's successor, Joe Biden, picked up the decree in January 2021, but Trump now shows with the new provisions that he wants to regain control of immigration policy.
entry obstacles for Harvard students
Another central element of Trump's announcement of today's announcement is the planned entry limitation for foreign students at the Elite University Harvard. This restriction is particularly directed against people who want to enter the university for study or exchange programs and should initially apply for six months. Only persons whose entry is in national interest remain unaffected by the new provisions. Trump has criticized Harvard as unsuitable for international students and demands that sufficient information on national security are provided, which is evaluated by some as an ideological influence, as [Süddeutsche] reports.
The US Minister of Homeland Kristi Noem had already taken steps to deny Harvard the admission of international students. However, a current judicial decision of the federal judge blocks these measures. The universities are increasingly exposed to a political approach based on their ideological orientations; Harvard is in particular because of her attitude perceived as left -liberal.
withdrawal of NASA nomination
While the entry policy is intensified, Trump also withdrawn the nomination of Jared Isaacman, a billionaire and confidante by Elon Musk, as the new head of NASA. Isaacman, who was considered an "ideal" for the position, was supposed to replace the resigned Bill Nelson. Trump founded his decision on the Truth Social platform with a "thorough review of previous connections". This withdrawal could be related to Isaacman's support for the Democrats in the past. Elon Musk was disappointed and praised Isaacman as competent and kind -hearted. The President himself has announced that it will soon be a new proposal that puts the interests of America in space in space, as [Deutschlandfunk] reports.
