As part of the exams, pollutants, especially through environmentally harmful substances such as PFAs, were taken into account. These substances are not biodegradable and accumulate in the environment. All tested seats went through strict controls regarding their pollution. The ÖAMTC therefore recommends testing child seats before buying in specialist shops and not ordering online. This should also be paid to the user-friendliness and the possibility of online operating instructions.
such as the ADAC , 20 other new child seats were also tested, which fall in similar categories. Under the models tested, baby seats, toddlers and seats for larger children can be found. Here performed 10 seats with "good" and 9 with "satisfactory". Particularly noteworthy are the models "Maxi-Cosi Pebble S + FamilyFix S" and "Joie Sprint", both of which were rated 1.8 and are suitable for children up to 1 year. The cheapest test candidate is the Joie I-Trillo FX, which is already available from 100 euros.
recommendations and legal requirements
child seats have been mandatory when driving, which has led to a significant decline in children's fatal accidents. chip mentions a variety of recommendations, including the Thule Maple + Alfi base for babies and the Cybex Solution G I-Fix for children Vary strongly, some models are already available below 100 euros, while others can cost over 700 euros. It is important to check the size and comfort of the child seat as well as safety -relevant aspects such as test certificates.
In Germany, children up to 12 years or a height of 1.50 m in suitable child seats must be secured. Especially when choosing child seats, parents should make sure that they meet both the legal requirements and the individual needs of their children. The ÖAMTC offers support in choosing the right model and advises to consult these tests regularly in order to remain informed about current developments.
