Zillertal judoka shine at tournaments: gold and silver for the talents
The last few weeks were characterized by great sporting success for the Zillertal judoka. On October 6, 2023, a group of 12 fighters took part in the Tyrolean youth cup in Kirchberg. This competition was the start of a series of tournaments that were on the plan for judoka. The Tyrolean youth cup is often seen as an important springboard for prospective judoka, since talented young athletes from the region can demonstrate their skills in direct competition.
A week later, on October 12th, the Zillertal Ranggler and Judo Association sent a smaller delegation of 5 fighters to the International Lake Constance Cup in Bregenz. This event attracts participants from different countries and offers the judokas an excellent opportunity to compete on an international parquet. And as if that weren't enough, the young talents also competed on October 19th at the international Anton Waldner Gear tournament in Matrei, where 17 young athletes from the association represented the colors of the ZRJV.

At all three tournaments, the Zillertal judoka showed remarkable achievements. Particularly noteworthy is Mayla Engel, who managed to move to the final in each of the competitions. Your record of two golden and a silver medal speaks for itself. But she was not alone in her success; The siblings Rahm also competed in all competitions and achieved remarkable results. Domenica Rahm took first place twice and once third, while her sister Sarah also mixed up at the front and secured a gold and two silver medals.
Other top performers from the team were Jakob Schöser, Helene Hauser, Marie Kröll, Lena Kerber and Rosina Leibrecht, all of whom were able to win two gold medals. Sarah Wimpissinger was also able to fight for a golden and a silver medal. The results from the various competitions are impressive and document the continuous improvement and the high training intensity of the judoka. This is also supported by the coaching work under the direction of Patrick Engel, who is proud of the achievements of his protégés.

Despite the strong performance, Enny Leber and Filip Moravac did not succeed in winning a medal this time. However, such setbacks are part of the sport and serve as an incentive for the next challenge.
