The anticipation for the Tour of the Alps 2025 is growing, less than seven months after Juan Pedro Lopez's triumphals. On November 21, 2024, the presentation of the five stages of the 48th edition of this cross -border bike race took place in the Palacongressi in Riva del Garda. The event will lead from April 21 to 25, 2025 through the picturesque landscapes of Euregio Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino.
As far as the numbers are concerned, bike fans can look forward to a total of 739 kilometers and an impressive 14,700 vertical meters. The tour begins on Easter Sunday in San Lorenzo Dorsino. In the course of the race, the drivers also reach South Tyrol for the first time during the second section, with Sterzing rats and Innichen being emphasized as important stages-specific points.
The stages in detail
The final part of the tour will take place in East Tyrol. The fourth stage on April 24th only starts a few kilometers from the Italian border in Sillian. This is a 160 -kilometer route that has the potential to significantly influence the overall result of the tour. A highlight of this route is the demanding increase that leads the drivers to Obertilliach.
In the first stage to East Tyrol, the drivers enjoy the view of the picturesque Misurina lake in Veneto. This is followed by a demanding route with several climbs. The Passo Sant’antonio will be particularly challenging, while the Kreuzberg pass is easier to manage. The driver field then returns to South Tyrol and claims to other mountain points in East Tyrol before the stalks -rich adventure in Lienz finds its crowning glory.
The last stage on April 25 promises an exciting final: the route initially leads flat over 113 kilometers before the steep climb to the Bannberg is waiting after 37 kilometers. With an average slope of 10 percent, this will put the athletes to the test. After several uphill and downhill pieces, it goes up again to the Bannberg.
The final section leads the driver via the challenging route to Stronach, which is notorious due to its extreme climbs. Here, in the middle of the heart of East Tyrol, the Tour of the Alps 2025 will end on the main square of Lienz, where the winner is crowned. Lienz is known for her passionate cycling community and offers an impressive backdrop for this important event.
Felix Gall, the local hero and stage winner of the Tour de France, has already announced his return to the Tour of the Alps 2025. "The race in my homeland will be exciting - many crunchy climbs and mountain arrivals await us. I am really looking forward to the stage profiles, especially for the last two days in East Tyrol.
