Berg drama in Mörtschach: Missing rescue in Ochsnerhütte!
A dramatic incident occurred on March 19, 2025 when a 41-year-old Carinthian alerted the emergency services because his father-in-law (53) had not returned from an alpine tour in the municipal area of Mörtschach. The missing person last left foot traces at the vehicle at 6:30 p.m., which led towards Kolmitzen. At 9:45 p.m., the rescue workers started their search after the mobile phone location was unsuccessful. During the operation, the mountain rescue and alpine police were active in difficult, rough terrain, supported by a police helicopter with thermal imaging camera.
Despite the freezing temperatures and the darkness, the mountain rescuers continued their search. The mission ultimately led to success: At 2:30 a.m., the missing man was found in the Ochsnerhütte at 2096 meters. He was exhausted, hypothermic and soaked, but had been looking for protection in the hut through a snapshot. After the primary care, he was flown to the valley at 5:30 a.m. with the "Libelle" police helicopter and then brought to the Lienz Hospital, as dolomitenstadt.at reported.
