Kitzbühel, Österreich - The current semester break brings an alarming balance for the ÖAMTC flight rescue: This winter season, over 1666 missions were flown throughout Austria, with Tyrol with 474 missions at the top. A worrying detail: This year's winter was particularly low in snow, which put the slopes in danger. Hard snow and stony fall rooms just a few meters next to the descents caused an increased risk. Marco Trefanitz, managing director of the ÖAMTC flight rescue, commented on the critical situation and the associated dangers in a broadcast on Wednesday.
Sad leader among the locations was Kitzbühel with 108 rescue flights, followed by Sölden with 96 and Landeck with 95.
