Heavy fall of Sarrazin Skistar - slope in Bormio in criticism!
In a dramatic incident on the notorious Stelvio slope in Bormio, the French ski racing driver Cyprien Sarrazin suffered a serious fall. During a training run, the 30-year-old lost control and crashed into a fishing net with enormous force. The incident occurred when Sarrazin opened a bump and was seriously injured. Immediately after the fall, he was flown to an Italian hospital by helicopter, where he was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, i.e. bleeding in the area of the brain. Due to the severity of his injuries, Sarrazin was operated on on Friday evening and is currently in the neurological intensive care unit. The French Ski Association provided this information, as well as the Reporting of infranken.de confirmed.
Criticism of slopes and sporting challenges
The condition of the slopes caused massive criticism among the athletes. Sarrazin's teammate, Nils Allegre, was outraged by the poor preparation of the route, which in his opinion was not respectful of the high -class athletes. He emphasized that such impassable conditions could not be expected from Bormio, where the Olympic Winter Games should take place in February 2026. The conditions are particularly challenging because the route changes between icy and snow -covered sections, which is perceived as dangerous by the drivers. The Swiss superstar Marco Odermatt even referred to this piste as a "struggle for survival".
Sarrazin, who had drawn attention to himself last winter with his victories on the legendary streak in Kitzbühel and also triumphed in Bormio, remains in the artificial coma for the time being. His return to the competition is in the face of his injuries, while his fans and the entire ski world hope for further news, as well as the information from vienna.at
