In the Ski-Paradise Tirol, a tragic accident occurred on February 5, 2025, which shakes the ski community. A 59-year-old skier from the Czech Republic died at the Stubaier Glacier after suddenly falling during the departure. Eyewitnesses reported that the man drove on a steep slope around 10:35 a.m. when he unhappily hit his left ski against a hidden, snow -covered stone. The impact was so violent that the skier was thrown several meters through the air before he stayed lifeless. Despite immediate first aid measures by several doctors and the request of a rescue helicopter, the man was ultimately not saved and died at the scene of the accident, as the police said, as well as the Allgäuer Zeitung reported.
But that was not the only accident that day. An 18-year-old German suffered serious injuries at the Patscherkofel at 1:35 p.m. when she got outside the rim and overturned. It remained about 18 meters below the slopes seriously injured until a witness made the emergency call and a rescue helicopter flew to the hospital in Innsbruck. Even an 81-year-old Austrian skier came into trouble when he had to avoid another skier on the same slope, which led to a fall that ended with facial injuries in the hospital.
