Shock for Tyrol: Ski-Ass Haaser after injury from World Cup races!
At the Ski World Championship in Saalbach, there was a dramatic incident that hit the Austrian team hard. The 31-year-old Tyrolean, who wanted to compete in the races, plunged in the lower section of the route and suffered a cruciate ligament tear and an inner meniscus tear in the right knee. This meant the early end of their participation in the World Cup and the entire rest of the season. According to a report from 5min.at, the ski racer was operated on Thursday in the Hochrum Clinic near Innsbruck.
The Situation became even more dramatic when her teammate Katharina Liensberger, also in the race, slipped after a few goals on the inner ski and stayed in the snow. Fortunately, she was able to shut down independently while reporting on the changing snow conditions and mirror -smooth areas on the slopes. The team apparently had to struggle with serious difficulties, especially the challenges caused by stones on the slopes. According to the Krone.at, Liensberger said after the incident: "I am glad that I am healthy because it is a cruciate ligament snow!"
For some of the other Austrian skiers, the day was no less challenging. Vanessa Scheib was eliminated after less than 20 seconds, while Stephanie Brunner also had great problems to assert himself against the adverse conditions. Franziska Gritsch, who trained outside the ÖSV structures, swung off 4.93 seconds behind. Despite such setbacks, the World Cup in Saalbach was also visible, especially with the gold medals that the team could get into, which indicates the strength of the competition. The entire incident illustrates the risky conditions under which the athletes have to compete, and puts their skills and the courage they apply to the focus.
