MCI new building: Political dispute over a secret report!

A passionate dispute over the new construction of the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) is again inflamed by Governor Anton Mattle after the project's current stop. The politician announced comprehensive renovations in the existing building, which, however, made the opposition and the MCI line excited. As dolomitenstadt.at , the judgment of an expert opinion, which was commissioned under the former SPÖ state council Georg Dornauer, was not available for the stop decision. Dornauer had the plan to transfer responsibility for the new building to the Bundeskimmobiliengesellschaft BIG in order to eliminate financial and planning uncertainties.

The allegation of non -transparency is in the room, because Rector Andreas Altmann wonders why the university and the users were not included in the planning. "Why, contrary to the countless announcements and promises of recent years, the user is not finally involved?" Altmann is outraged, as tirol.orf.at . The opposition representatives criticize this decision as hasty and profoundly non -transparent, while the ÖVP replies that the financial framework makes a new building of 250 million euros intolerable. The central question remains whether the newly commissioned report was not considered to be usable from the start.

political pressure increases

Criticism of the secrecy of important information on the part of the state government is getting louder. The Greens refer to the situation as building scandal and demand more transparency regarding the consulting costs that seem to add up over 16,000 hours. Altmann sees a clear responsibility among the government, which has so far been withdrawn from the discussion in the state parliament, while the opposition politicians urgently urge the need for an open information policy. The debate about the future of the MCI could prove to be decisive for the political landscape in Tyrol, which has to react particularly sensitively to financial decisions in these times.
