Alcohol controls in Tyrol: More accidents and the highest alert will!
The Tyrolean police carried out over 59 promotions as part of intensive controls to combat alcohol and drugs in road traffic. According to meinbezirk.at , the officers invested more than 7,000 hours in traffic controls and carried out over 22,500 alcohol tests. 299 cases of alcohol abuse were reported, which corresponds to an increase compared to the previous year. The numbers were formally alarming: 181 driver's licenses were removed, 30 drivers were drunk and 10 under the influence of drugs on bicycles or e-scooters.results of the security campaign
Another critical point is the increase in traffic accidents during this period. A total of 160 accidents occurred in which 188 people were injured. In 14 of these accidents, an impairment by alcohol or drugs was found. These numbers are alarming because they represent a significant increase compared to the previous year - of only 12 accidents in the previous year. Colonel Enrico Leitgeb of the Tyrolean traffic police appeals to the drivers to avoid alcohol and drugs in order to increase traffic safety. This is also shown in the special measures that the police will take over the turn of the year and in the coming weeks in order to continue to pay special attention to this topic, as reported.
The fact that most of the alcohol -related accidents took place in Innsbruck illustrates the challenges with which the police are faced with. Further controls are planned for the coming weeks to counteract the trends and increase traffic safety. The Tyrolean police continue to stay on course to reduce the number of alcohol -related accidents and to increase security on the streets.
